This page contains the Power Point presentation and accompanying documents/resource guides that were used at the Association for Middle Level Education Annual Conference in Louisville, Ky,, November 2011. This presentation serves as an introduction to the use of the Common Core literacy standards in a content area classroom. The power point and corresponding documents will allow you to incorporate the Common Core standards in your content classroom. There are suggested activities that may be utilized with several of the standards. While the examples come primarily from a science classroom, they may be easily adapted to other content areas. Members of this site may also contribute ideas or comment on the discussion link as we begin this network! It may be useful to look at the Power Point to get an overall sense of the project before you dig into any of the other pages.
